, cropped, and mounted on an 8x10 inch backing board (see photo, ***includes white margins, ***which is not a mat board cutout) with caption and photography of the 'Day Star' fishing boat (it was huge!) that was built in the backyard of a Mokuleia resident in 1974. For those of you who might be interested in the photo, this is why the surfing spot there is known as 'Day Star' so it has historical significance in the surfing world, and the term is from the Bahai faith.  One of the controversies of this boat was that the owner built a railroad track down the beach and on the reef to launch the boat. During the process steel support beams broke and the craft got stuck on the reef. Two D-8 bulldozers were use to free the boat and it went into service as a tuna boat
.
It is dated on the front of the photo, initialed, and is shrink wrapped to protect it from damage and has the caption and preservation tips included in the label on the back.
It would make a great birthday gift for someone who may have lived in the area or surfed here. They are popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or stores where people can see them.

**When it is cropped and attached to the single mat 8x10" backing board you will be able to see the backing board around the borders of the print. It makes the print look like there is a wider margin at the top and bottom of the photo (which you can see if you look at the photo, it is longer than wide). An 11x14 inch frame (or larger) with a custom cut mat from a frame shop or art store is the suggested way to display this photo.
Prints are permanently mounted to the acid free backing board using an archival photo adhesive and cannot be easily removed from the backing board without damaging the photo. If you want to use a larger frame and can't figure out how to do it with the photo mounted on the backing board, contact us and we can explain how it can be done. This is recommend- ed for best visual and artistic impact in displaying this photo, although many people are happy using a standard 8x10 inch frame and displaying the image as is.

This print was photographed by professional surfing, stock photographer, and master black and white printer Bill Romerhaus, of North Shore Photography, who has been shooting surfing, stock and scenics since 1967. His most recent work has appeared in the new CBS/Eye productions "Hawaii 50", Disney/Dreamworks productions "Fright Night", ABC Television pilot "My Generation", Sony Pictures "Soul Surfer", CBS/Paramount Network TV series "The Cleaner" on A&E Networks, Universal Pictures "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", and Warner Brothers  "The Big Bounce", filmed on the North Shore or on Oahu, providing vintage photos of nostalgia, and surfing for background artwork.  Bill has lived in Hawaii for over 50 years. In 1965 he shot his first surfing photo and was a contributing photographer to 'Surfer', and 'Surfing' magazines, and over 30 international surfing magazines and manufacturers, as a photojournalist for over 100 publications, advertising/stock photo agencies, and corporate clients worldwide.
In 1983, he started NORTH SHORE PHOTOGRAPHY, specializing in black & white darkroom services, after attaining the status as a master black & white printer and film processor for professional clients island wide. His photos have credited him with over 200 cover shots and full page advertisements. His work has appeared in Popular Photography, Shutterbug, American Photographer, Shape, Men's Fitness, Surfing, Surfer, Honolulu, Aloha, Hawaii newspapers, Outdoor, Outside, Conde Nast Traveler, National Enquirer, CNN, Discovery & History Channels, & many others. Professional clients have included American Express, Vogue International, Analog Clothing, Hilton Hotels, Hawaiian Tropic, Hawaiian Airlines, etc.
