    Description

Embroidered emblem commemorating the retirement flight of space shuttle Discovery in April 2012. The patch was designed by yours truly for the occasion.
Item measures approximately 4.5” across at its widest point.
    Additional info:
Representing the historic transformation of a space shuttle orbiter from a vehicle of exploration to an instrument of inspiration, the emblem commemorates the final journey of space shuttle Discovery and her transit from Kennedy Space Center to the Udvar-Hazy Center near the nation's capital.
The massive Vehicle Assembly Building and observation tower of the Udvar-Hazy Center repesent Discovery's two homes, with the powerful Shuttle Carrier Aircraft carrying the orbiter for one last flight between the two locations. Thirty-nine red, white and blue stars adorn the sky overhead as reminders of Discovery's thirty-nine spaceflights and her achievements in low Earth orbit.
The patriotic design is rounded out with a red and black banner bearing significant data points for Discovery’s legacy.
