NASA U.S. Space Shuttle Orbiter DISCOVERY
Full Stack Solid Wood/Resin Desk Top Display Model
With Base Stand Item. Display Box (shown) is included as are the two compressible cardboard boxes and protective foam (also shown).
Painstakingly built out of high quality materials, with much detail. It is hand-painted, with great concern for accuracy. The photos clearly represent these features and I ask you to review these carefully.
The model measures approximately 11.00" tall x 4.50" wide. This is the classic NASA model design which makes a great gift for any pilot, aviation buff or history fan.
Discovery
(OV-103)
was
NASA's
third shuttle
orbiter to join the fleet, arriving for the first time at the
Kennedy Space
Center
in Florida in November
1983
. Its first launch was
on Aug. 30,
1984
to deploy three communications satellites.
Discovery
successfully completed
39 missions,
more than any other shuttle in the fleet.
Discovery
was retired after completing its final mission,
STS-133
on March 9,
2011.
This magnificent and most successful shuttle spacecraft
is now on display at the
Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space
Museum
.

I purchased this new and displayed it for a short time, but wish to sell it now to clear out some of my collections. Thank you for looking.)
