  • Condition: This listing comes from Estate of retired NASA Shuttle Projects MGR. at Marshall Space Flight Center.. Also known as the "ENGINE MAN" he led the recovery process in not only the Challenger but Columbia accident's also. Plaques are in Very Good condition with minor storage wear (ding or 2 and scrape/scratch or 2 on the smaller MSFC plaque, harder to see in pics) and were part of the upper stage conversion from the Titan 34D & IV. He was also a Key figure in the Saturn Rocket Engines development. Mr. McCool was Team Leader for NASA.. Please see all pictures.

    This recent find comes from Estate of the retired NASA/MSFC (George C. Marshall Space Flight Center) SPACE SHUTTLE Projects MGR. Alex McCool "ENGINE MAN" (He also played a major role in Saturn Engine development) and managed both the Challenger and Columbia Shuttle disaster Recovery/Investigations. Listing is for (2) Plaques presented to Alex McCool as the NASA Team leader on the Recovery/Investigation of (IUS) the Shuttles Inertial Upper Stage conversion from the initial use on the TITAN Rockets (Kick Motor). This helped to deliver heavier payloads Via the Space Shuttle Payload system and Plaques also included Classified Missions investigations in 1985 (Discovery/Atlantis & DOD).   Note: Multiple articles and NASA PDF's on Mr. McCools accomplishments are online.  Please see all pictures and condition description.
