    Description

Small lot of ephemera with an interest in West Virginia coal mining. Included is a 1953 sample ballot for the town of Sofia, West Virginia's municipal election. In pen are, presumably, the numbers of votes each candidate received. One of the names, William Withrow, appears on the rest of the ephemera here. According to the pink sample ballot's tally, Withrow won the election for Recorder as a representative of the Citizen's Party. It seems that the Citizen's party actually swept the election.
Also included in the lot are two business cards from WW. Withrow. He was a ales representative for Olin Mathieson in their explosives division. One card is stained.
There is a Citizen's Party Town of Sofia set of minutes from May 4, 1953. Withrow was the secretary and signed the minutes.
The final two pieces are Mr. Withrow's examination record from the Department of Mines in 1949 and the certificate he received for passing the exams.
Overall, a great little lot for any mining enthusiast or WV historian.
    Thanks for looking!
