Lanyard - Shuttle Columbia - with FLOWN duct tape
FLOWN INSULATION PART OF THE SPACE SHUTTLE COLUMBIA
This highend luxurious lanyard contains a FLOWN piece of duct tape that was installed in the Space Shuttle Columbia - encapsulated in the acrylic cap.
The buckle is made out of solid metal and comes in a exclusively designed futuristic spaceship design.
The strap is made out of white Nylon and has security lock
All other parts such as the keychain are also made out solid metal.
Hold it in your hands and you realize the difference to cheap plastic giveaway lanyards.
The source of the encapsulated duct tape is a pipe from the orbiter Columbia that was covered with the duct tape. It flew on STS-5 (and most likely on the first shuttle flight STS-1, too !) and removed afterwards. NASA papers are in our possession.
NOTE : This flown artifact of the Space Shuttle Columbia is NOT from the ill-fated flight STS-107, but removed earlier during regular maintenance and sold afterwards.
