Description
Up for bid is this vintage 1965 "Austin Stone" menorah which was designed by Ellen Lord and created by Austin Productions. This lovely menorah features six children with raised hands for candle holders. A simply moving piece of art! This menorah measures approximately 7" tall and 12" long. It is quite heavy!
Additional information on this is:
"Made of a composite material, the menorah is made to look like the stones of the wall of Jerusalem. There are multiple types of menorahs designed by Ellen Lord that have children and look like stone.
“Austin was founded in 1952 in Brooklyn, N.Y., as a museum reproduction company featuring selections from great art collections of Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Asian, African and Contemporary sculpture.”
This is in very good used condition, though it appears this menorah was used in celebration of Hanukkah as there is some evidence of melted candle wax on 2 of the candle holders when the candles were removed. Not sure if this affected this piece or not, I'll leave that to the new owner. Possibly when this would be used in the future to celebrate new candles provided by the buyer will mask that. Even with all that, this is still a very lovely piece and would be beautiful being used at a lovely family gathering.
Please take the opportunity to look at the pictures I've provided prior to placing your bid to ensure this item meets/exceeds your expectations as the pictures are an important part of my description.
Good Luck!
