Antique Bronze Brass Hanging Shabbat/Sabbath Star Oil Lamp Judaica Jewish

$ 132

Availability: 39 in stock
  • Religion: Judaism
  • Condition: The condition is much like you see it in the photos. There is some green oxidation or verdigris. There is a tiny hole near the edge of tray that I have provided a close-up of. I think that it is probably from when it was made. I see some very minor dents on the underside of the star that I think are probably from when it was made. Otherwise, I do not see any dents or cracks or breaks. A close-up shows a small pinkish drop of something that I think is probably paint. The tarnish or patina varies depending on where you are looking. There are some dark spots. The inside of the star and the rod coming out of the star are dark. There are some tiny pits in the surface of the rod coming out of the star. Otherwise, it is generally fine and as shown. My photos should give you a good idea of its general condition.

    Description

    This listing is for the old oil lamp that you see in the photos. I purchased it at an estate sale in Oregon where I was not told its history. There were relatively many antique at the sale. I do not know much about Judaica but some research tells me that it is a Shabbat/Sabbath oil lamp. It looks antique to me. I am guessing that it is from the 19th century. I do not know where it was made. I leave to the buyer how old it is and who made it.
    As it sits on a table, it measures close to 11 1/2 inches high. The diameter of the round tray at the bottom measures close to 9 inches. The lamp weighs close to 2 pounds 15 ½ ounces. I think that it might be a type of bronze but it might be brass.

    I guarantee oil lamp to be as described and represented by the 12 photos after the general description. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them.
    Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs “close to” because in my opinion no measurements are exact and some things are difficult to measure.
    I like to leave feedback after I know that the item has arrived and that the buyer is satisfied.
    I reserve the right to cancel any bids without explanation.
    I frequently purchase signature delivery for my more valuable packages because of the possibility of them being stolen off of a porch or damaged by weather. I often but not always ship the same or the next day. Often, I have a double wall box custom made for larger items and that might result in a short delay. When I use packing peanuts, they are usually biodegradable. Sometimes, I use used boxes.
    Please email me with any questions or suggestions. I do not ship on weekends. I might not be available to answer email on weekends.
